New Limited Edition PM-2.1 Phaseomatic Deluxe vacuum Tube Phaser from Effectrode
By Muzo Admin on Thursday 05 July 2007 - 20:57:17 Comments off email to someone printer friendly

New Limited Edition PM-2.1 Phaseomatic Deluxe vacuum Tube Phaser from Effectrode

Continuing their series of innovative, retro-styled tube effects pedals, Effectrode announces a limited edition of the Phaseomatic Deluxe vacuum tube phaser pedal.

This version of the PM-2.1 has an all tube signal processing path controlled by a powerful NCO (Numerically Controlled Oscillator) to drive the bulb and photocells. The tubes allow the PM-2.1 to achieve massive 'larger-than-life' phasing effects which are simply not possible with solid-state phaser pedals. The NCO is capable of generating several waveforms and is capable of super-slow 1/40Hz (duration of 40 seconds) comb filter swps. If this isn't slow enough then the NCO can also be configured to produce a constant output. The comb notches can then be moved around manually with the sweep control to produce hollow or errie timbres. The linear triangle wave shape can be used to create subtle, beautiful and natural chorus effects at medium to higher modulation rates. At low modulation rates, deep tunnel and jet phasing effects can be obtained. These effects can be further excentuated by switching in the resonance. The pseudo-square wave is great for those swampy Tube-Vibe tones and the stepped function is particularly effective at creating haunting and almost vocal sounds with arpeggiated picking sequences. Finally, it is possible to inject huge amounts of feedback without overload for some frighteningly funky phase-wah tones and weird 1950's sci-fi movie 'tonalities'.

Enhanced Specification

.Photo-optical vacuum tube architecture capable of phasing and true vibrato.
.Powerful mixed wave generator LFO so that phase sweep can be driven with triangle (linear), sine, psuedo-square (vibe), rise, fall, stepped and constant wave shapes that allow you to create your own unique signature sounds.
.An internal trimmer to adjust the amount of feedback in the phase-shifter section for resonance or self-oscillation. Adjsuting the internal trimmer totally changes the timbre of the phasing effect and allows for some outrageously funky, tasty and chewy textures.
.Gain can be tailored to integrate the Phaseomatic Deluxe into your rig. Unity (0dB) up to 6dB of gain can be achieved by removing the rear panel and replacing the gain resistor (22KOhms) with the appropriate value. The unit is supplied stock with unity gain. If the resistor is removed the gain will be 6dB. If the value is reduced, attentuation can also be achieved.
.Hyper-bright, daylight visible LED pulsates with modulation speed for visual song tempo matching.
.Photo-optical and all-tube architecture ensures massive headroom even when using high output active pickups such as EMG85's and "LiveWires". If you do succeed in overdriving this pedal then you'll be experiencing super smooth, class-A, tube overdrive!
.Finished in a tough, high-gloss sky-blue powder coat finish.
.Supplied with wall-wart power adaptor.

Specifications:
Power consumption: 12 volts DC @ 1.2 amps.
Dimensions: 7 x 5 x 3 inches, weight approx 3lbs.
Input Impedance: 1MOhm (accepts guitar, mic or line-level signals)

Retail price in USA is 9.

This batch of phasers is a limited run of 50. Each tube phaser is fitted with Mil-Spec NOS JAN Philips 12AT7 in the phase shifter sections and JJ short anode 12AX7 in the gain/mixer stage for lowest hum and microphonic noise.

A unique way to preserve music: Keep it playing throughout the years.

March 06, 2007— Los Angeles ---“And the music played on and on” might be the mantra of Leandro, creator of a website with unique service that allows songs to be played now and 5 to 50 years into the future. Leandro, as a music lover he said, “As far as I know, this is the only service that will actually play songs and display info regarding each band/musician using this method.”
.
The unique combination of world wide service, continuous music streaming and band promotion in just one place is what makes this product so handy and convenient to use. It also gives musicians the chance to make their music “go on and on” for unlimited years.

The music service is a boon for bands, musicians, teens, music lovers, multimedia lovers, television and radio programming, disco labels and musician seekers. It allows the preservation of music through the ages.

Leandro said, “The main goal of this idea is to play all songs from the main grid for the next 5 years in an "uninterruptible-random" pattern. But my real aim is to go beyond these 5 years, to what could be 50 years or even more! By doing this, the future generations can have a glimpse of what is going on in the indie-music world today and the progression of this same world and at the same time “save” some music creations by not letting them be forgotten.”

In a world that runs on the speed of light, music is as dispensable as the next talented band that comes along. And so are the musicians. This is a service that can “save” those songs and music for posterity. It also provides a platform for good musicians to reach big audiences. It’s the place for music labels (and everyone else) to find new talents and to find an enormous variety of music from around the world. It’s the Nirvana of the music industry.

The main goal of this idea is to play all songs from the main grid for the next 5 years with no advertising, just streaming music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call it a kind of indie-music-time-capsule. It’s an idea whose time has come and musicians need to get on the bandwagon. A limited number of spots are available.

Welcome to:” N years of music ”.

For information, log onto http://www.protrampo.com/music_grid/nyearsofmusic.html

# # #

We are a new service on the web and soon we will offer free spots (each worth US0) for every band or musician to PROMOTE, DISTRIBUTE and PRESERVE their music or songs. There will be a total of 200 free spots for the first bands/musicians that upload their creations, (one spot for each band/musician). The songs/music will be playing in a continuous-random pattern for the next 5 years (guaranteed) with the possibility to increase to 50 or more years. It will be the first REAL music-time-capsule on the web. By doing this, future generations will have a glimpse of what is going on in the music world today and songs/music will not be lost in time or forgotten.
We are also launching a contest where the most voted songs will win amazing prices.
An answer from you guys will be much appreciated.
Cheers.
Lee.

REGARDING HOAG OPTICAL PICKUP sale to manufactures
By Muzo Admin on Thursday 05 July 2007 - 20:54:33 Comments off email to someone printer friendly

Please accept my announcement to the manufacturing companies.

Thank you, Ron Hoag

REGARDING HOAG OPTICAL PICKUP:

THE PICKUP INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS ARE FOR SALE / POSSIBLE LICENSING. INTERESTED PARTIES MAY CONTACT ME. RON HOAG P.O. BOX 3053 NEWBERG, OR 97132

THIS IS MY 1970 CIRCUIT. THIS IS VERY SIMPLE AND INEXPENSIVE TO MAKE. THE NEW DESIGN HAS LEDs, NOT LIGHT BULBS. THE CIRCUIT AND SOUND ARE THE SAME, MY SOUND FILES ARE ON MY WEB SITE. www.opticalguitars.com . EACH COMPANY MAY ADAPT THE CASE STYLE TO THEIR OWN INSTRUMENTS.

HOAG INSTRUMENTS STATEMENT

Some called it revolutionary, some said it couldn't be done, others did not spend nearly 39 years developing this guitar. The physics of the nodes and anti nodes are not in question. Ron Hoag questioned what is called standing waves. The notion that harmonic waves are static and stand on the vibrating string. If this was true, his optical pickup placed at the bridge or fulcrum point, would be missing all these overtones. Hoag discovered this anomaly, from his invention in 1968. He could not fully explain how this optical pickup works within the standard explanation of how a vibrating string and its harmonics react. After a year of research and experimentation in 1970, he made sense of this phenomenon and has been making them ever since. Noted musicians, that have played his guitar are amazed of its sustain and clarity. Not hampered by magnetic drag on the strings, the sustain is quite noticeable. The sound files on Hoag instruments web site are available to compare. One other fact you should know. Any type of string may be used on this guitar i.e., steel, bronze, nylon, etc. it is not necessary to have magnetic properties

THE INDUCTOR IS HIGH IMPEDANCE AND WILL DEVELOP THE "MAGNETIC SNAP", THAT MAGNETIC PICKUPS GIVE AS IT DISCHARGES THE COIL. THE CIRCUIT THAT FOLLOWS THE CAPACITOR 94, IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE AUDIO AMPLIFIER. THE PICKUP CIRCUIT HAS NO ACTIVE DEVICES OTHER THAN THE PHOTO DEVICES. THE OUTPUT VOLTAGE IS CONTROLLED BY THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT RADIATION FROM THE LEDs, MORE RADIATION THE MORE VOLTAGE OUTPUT. THIS CIRCUIT HAS 3 TO 5 VOLTS OUTPUT. HIGHER OUTPUT CAN BE OBTAINED AND CAN REACH TO 30 VOLTS OUTPUT. NEW AMPLIFIER DESIGNS CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS HIGHER VOLTAGE.

Hoag Instruments offers a faster midi guitar pickup
By Muzo Admin on Thursday 05 July 2007 - 20:52:57 Comments: 1 email to someone printer friendly

Hoag Instruments offers a faster midi guitar pickup and is now available for licensing.

Fast response time is the key word here. Magnetic pickups, that started the midi guitar evaluation, has given us a challenge to improve the midi response time. Other mechanical pickups have been used, but they have difficulty in the lower frequency of the vibrating strings. Response time, The time for the midi trigger circuits to latch onto the fundamental of each string, is critical for any midi interface. This has been limited by many factors within each pickup. Every trigger circuit relies on the signal fed into it to be the fundamental frequency. If not, it has to filter out the string harmonics to do that. Hoag Optical Pickup generates the fundamental first and then the harmonics follow.

The first signal that comes from the Hoag Optical Pickup, is pure fundamental. For that instant in time the signal has not had time to reach the bridge. It is only after the fundamental reaches the bridge that it has time to create the harmonics and reflect back to the finger position or nut.

Hoag Optical Pickups also, greatly expands the frequency of the pickup. The Hoag Optical Pickup is responsive from a few Hertz to well over Humane hearing and is quite evident in the sound file on the web site www.opticalguitars.com . Please listen to it and give your opinion.
Thanks, Ron Hoag

Husky releases new tracks on Myspace.com
By ams on Wednesday 04 April 2007 - 16:01:34 Comments off email to someone printer friendly

Listen up y’all, the name is Husky! Yeah, that’s right, like the snow wolf. I’ve learnt my trade on the streets of many places, but my home is deep inside my head where I see the rhymes that I write.

I’m a storyteller man, I can tell the same stories that other rappers tell, but I got my own bible to spit at you, check out my sound. You’ll find it aggressive, strong-minded and true. I won’t ask you to make a judgement on my music, cos’ it is what it is.

So many of these rap cats will tell you how tough they are or how many shots they’ve taken, but these are just stories, real toughness comes from being strong minded and independent in your thoughts.

If you wanna’ know what makes me wake up every day, it is looking forward to what the next 24hours may bring! It’s the challenge of fighting for the peak, hitting the target, and still paying my dues.

Many rappers prefer making a big speech, but I want the music to do the talking.

If you want to find out more about me and my music, remember the name – Husky.

STUDIOEXPRESSO CONNECTS WITH YOUNG MUSICIANS
By ams on Saturday 10 March 2007 - 12:46:08 Comments off email to someone printer friendly

Speaking at the recent studioexpresso "Making Music for Success" held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Santa Monica are (left to right) legendary producer and engineer, Eddie Kramer, founder and president of studioexpresso, Claris Sayadian-Dodge, and Brad Lunde, president TransAudio Group and LasVegasProAudio.

SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA: Young musicians, very early in their careers, often assume that all they need to do is write a great song and they'll be discovered... and that success will flow in proportion to their musical genius. That happens in some rare instances, but much more often the truly enduring artists develop and grow as they learn the ins and outs of the industry. They start out building a fan base on their own and add to it in increments by enlisting the help of indie labels, promoters, producers, and, finally, major labels. Artists who avoid this long and often arduous road, counting instead on a "big break" that never comes, usually end their careers early and in frustration.
